The Chinese government handed over Prithivi Highway to the Government of Nepal in 2034 BS. The highway came into operation only after this. In the Trishuli section of the road, many major road accidents occur almost daily. The road accidents started to be recorded only after 11 years of establishment of this road. The government has been keeping record of road accidents from 2045. Road accidents have not been minimized although the government has the details of the accidents. Until recently, a major bus accident that took place was in Jogimara of Jumeiraghat. The accident took place on 2062 in the month of Falgun. The night bus of Tilganga Transport fell into Trishuli River, killing 53 people on the spot. The bus was heading towards Dharan from Kathmandu. Similarly, the jeep of former Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire along with his family fell off the road in Ghopteveer near Muglin road. They were returning from Muktinath temple. The jeep and the dead bodies of the family members were not found.. The bus, which was carrying 42 Buddhists people, fell off the road and it took about a week to take the dead body out from the spot.

Forty Eight British army personnel, who were returning back to their home town for celebrating Dashain , died on the way near to Gajuri. To retrieve, the body Nepal had to hire the man power from Bangladesh. Moreover, 34 passengers, who were returning from Saptari  after celebrating Chhat, died on the spot and  15 passengers were rescued.

According to the District Traffic Office, Gajuri, there were 138 accidents that tolls for 93 deaths, 123 injured and 210 were with general injuries,  since last fiscal year, in Dhading district. According to Inspector Netra Prasad Bhatt of the District Traffic Police Office, Gajuri, most of the accidents are due to sleepiness, negligence of the driver, speeding, abuse of alcohol, drug and overtaking. At present, the study of statistics show that 269 passengers’ bus accidents occurred after 2045 years on Prithvi Highway as per the record of the district traffic office located at Gajuri. These accidents on this road segments are representative. Many lives have passed away in this road. Accidents are gradually increasing instead of decreasing.

Many accidents have occurred in Prithvi highway in this fiscal year. The main reasons for the accidents are due to high speed, uneven roads and negligence of pedestrians. Moreover, Roads are built without following the criteria of the construction of the roads. The road was built based on 2 thousand vehicles in 2024 but the quality and capacity of the road has remained the same until now. The highway was built for a capacity of 10 tones but vehicles carrying more than 40 tones run in this place. The accident takes place in this area of ​​Prithvi highway due to lack of security measures to be kept on the roadside to prevent it from crashing. Director of Transport Department, Gogan Bahadur Hamal said that the traffic department is cooperating with all the bodies to manage it. From the capital city Kathmandu, many vehicles, heading towards eastern or western direction, passes through Prithvi Highway.

Many vehicles moving from the capital to the east and west passes through this Prithvi Highway. Travelers are compelled to stay for hours due to common problem of turning long bus in the narrow highway. Citizens often complain that the government has not given any interest to further improvement of the road and minimize road accidents in Trishuli area. However, there are lots more step up activities that are seen in Chitwan-Malekhu road areas. Some improvements are made to reconstruct the damaged road areas.

However, the road from Chitwan to Malekhu has been improved a lot. The government has made some improvements in this area over the past few years, but due to the increasing number of vehicles, narrow road and carelessness of driver, innocent people have given lives in Trishuli. It has become a death route. It has made many people handicapped and millions of physical assets have been damaged over here. Therefore, there is no option except completing the fast track even faster to reduce the increasing pressure on this section of the Prithvi highway.
