Kathmandu— Congress Member of Parliament KC Venugopal accused the central government of deliberately stalling parliamentary proceedings, asserting that the opposition is ready for debate while the government consistently avoids discussing critical issues such as donation theft allegations and student atrocities. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi on Thursday, Venugopal placed the blame for the ongoing deadlock squarely on the government.

Government's Role in Parliamentary Deadlock

Venugopal emphasized that the opposition has been ready for discussions from day one. He pointed out that the Home Minister himself is not attending parliamentary sessions, suggesting insincerity on the part of the government. Venugopal dismissed suggestions that the opposition was responsible for the deadlock and accused the government of deliberately avoiding any meaningful discussion.

Public Accounts Committee Meeting

Venugopal also highlighted issues discussed during a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The committee examined audit reports highlighting delays and discrepancies in the disbursal of salaries, pensions, and retirement benefits to armed forces personnel. Venugopal stated that while some aspects were satisfactory, most areas needed further clarification from the Ministry of Defence.
