Kathmandu— Members of India's ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) held their regular “Mangal Milan” parliamentary party meeting Tuesday at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament Library Building, New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other key leaders in attendance. Following the meeting, NDA MPs are scheduled to march towards Parliament to protest what they describe as a deliberate obstruction of proceedings by opposition parties regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement on police actions during recent student protests at Jantar Mantar. The alliance intends to highlight that Shah is prepared to address concerns while accusing the Opposition of avoiding debate.

Alliance Meeting and Attendance

The weekly “Mangal Milan” meeting saw attendance from prominent NDA figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and Union Minister JP Nadda. During the gathering, MPs were observed waving the Indian national flag alongside Prime Minister Modi.

Parliamentary Protest Planned

After the meeting, NDA Members of Parliament will march towards the Parliament building to demonstrate against the ongoing disruptions caused by opposition parties during the Monsoon Session. The protest centers on the Opposition’s demands for answers regarding police action taken against student protestors at Jantar Mantar. NDA MPs plan to carry placards emphasizing Shah's willingness to discuss the matter, contrasting it with what they perceive as the Opposition’s avoidance of a parliamentary debate.

Minister Calls Out Opposition Leader

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, urging him not to avoid Parliament now that Home Minister Amit Shah is prepared to respond to questions. Rijiju stated on social media, “Rahul Gandhi demanded a response from Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji for days. Now that the Home Minister is ready to answer every point in detail, he must not run away.” He added that he had repeatedly requested Gandhi to directly address Shah and raise his concerns within the Lok Sabha.

The government hopes this offer of debate will break the current deadlock and allow parliamentary proceedings to continue during the Monsoon Session, with Amit Shah prepared to deliver a comprehensive response following the discussion.
