Kathmandu— Landslides struck Serigau in Rukumpaschim district’s Musikot Municipality-5 on Wednesday afternoon, burying vehicles including tractors, rollers, dozers, and a local workshop, while also placing the Naya Basti settlement under significant threat. Authorities are currently relocating residents from three homes deemed to be at immediate risk of further landslides. The incident has resulted in millions of Nepali Rupees in damages.

Settlement Under Immediate Threat

Out of the fifteen houses comprising the Naya Basti settlement, authorities have identified three as being under “immediate and great risk” from ongoing landslide activity. District Police Office DSP Bed Bahadur Paudel stated that people and their belongings are being moved to safer locations in response to the danger.

Workshop and Equipment Destroyed

The landslides caused substantial financial losses, burying a workshop operated by local resident Dhan Bahadur BK. Also destroyed were two tractors belonging to Padam KC, as well as a roller, mixture machine, and excavator buckets owned by Pravin Dangi.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation in Serigau and assess the full extent of the damage caused by the landslides.
