Nepal’s Ruling Party Denies Cabinet Disputes or Imminent Reshuffle

ABC NEWS

Kathmandu— Rabi Lamichhane, president of Nepal's Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), stated that there are no disagreements among members of the Council of Ministers and no plans for an immediate cabinet reshuffle. He made the remarks after a meeting with ministers and Members of Parliament at the parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Saturday, addressing recent speculation about potential friction within the government. Lamichhane emphasized the RSP’s internal practice of open discussion regarding ministerial performance and acknowledged that questions are naturally raised concerning specific ministries or individual ministers.

Internal Dialogue and Accountability

Lamichhane explained that the RSP encourages questioning and critical evaluation of its members' work, adding that discussions have taken place between MPs and ministers to address any identified shortcomings. This internal dialogue is presented as a standard practice within the party, aimed at ensuring accountability and improving performance.

Government Focus on Cooking Gas Supply

Beyond addressing concerns about cabinet stability, Lamichhane also highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure a consistent supply of cooking gas throughout the country. He stated that authorities are actively monitoring both the supply and distribution networks, working with District Administration Offices and LPG dealers to resolve any existing issues.

The RSP president's statements aim to quell rumors of internal strife and reassure the public regarding government stability and its commitment to addressing essential services.
