Kathmandu— The Nepali Army has rescued a total of 123 individuals who went missing Wednesday morning following significant flooding of the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district, Nepal. The rescue operation, utilizing helicopters, focused on the Timure area where 95 people were successfully evacuated as of Thursday morning, including eight foreign nationals. Efforts are ongoing to reach those trapped within tunnels at a hydropower project and to locate remaining missing persons.

Rescue Operations in Timure

The majority of rescues – 95 individuals – occurred in the Timure area of Rasuwa district. Among those saved were eight foreign nationals, who are now being prepared for transport to Kathmandu. The remaining evacuees from Timure are being moved to Dhunche.

Tunnel Rescues Underway

Rescue teams successfully extracted seven people trapped inside a tunnel at a hydropower project in Haku, Rasuwa. However, operations continue within three additional tunnels as authorities work to reach anyone still stranded. The Nepali Army is prioritizing access to these confined spaces amidst ongoing flood conditions.

Focus on Indian Tourists

The Nepali Army is specifically focused on rescuing 21 Indian tourists who were reported missing in the Timure area. These individuals are also being transported to Kathmandu as part of the broader evacuation effort.

Rescue operations remain active in Rasuwa district, with authorities continuing to search for any remaining individuals affected by the flooding and working to ensure their safe return.
