Kathmandu— Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah completed an on-site inspection of flood-affected areas in Bidur, Nuwakot district, assessing damage and directing relief efforts after widespread devastation caused by recent flooding. Accompanied by Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal, the Prime Minister traveled to Nuwakot by road at 9:30 am Wednesday to evaluate the situation firsthand and issue directives for rescue, relief, and long-term rehabilitation. The inspection followed immediate action taken by Shah after the floods, including convening high-level meetings with concerned authorities.

On-Site Assessment

Prime Minister Shah’s visit focused on gaining first-hand information regarding the extent of damage in Bidur and surrounding settlements impacted by the flooding. His team conducted a physical assessment of the destruction, evaluating the impact on infrastructure and homes. Detailed discussions were held with local administration officials, security agencies, and elected representatives to understand immediate needs and coordinate response efforts.

Directives for Relief and Restoration

During his visit, Prime Minister Shah instructed local authorities and relevant agencies to prioritize providing immediate relief to displaced families. He also directed a swift restoration of disrupted roads and essential infrastructure.
