Also present were KC Venugopal, Congress General Secretary (Organisation), and Randeep Singh Surjewala, AICC in-charge of Karnataka, according to sources. The leadership is expected to finalize these assignments within the next 24 hours.

Student Protests Draw Scrutiny

Independent MP Parimal Nathwani expressed concern over a lathi charge during student protests in Jharkhand, urging Chief Minister Hemant Soren to engage in dialogue with demonstrators and address their remaining demands. Meanwhile, Congress MP KC Venugopal dismissed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s offer for a parliamentary discussion on student issues as an attempt to deflect attention from alleged police brutality.

Parliamentary Logjam Continues

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla appealed for cooperation in the House, noting that the government had agreed to discuss student issues with a response from the Home Minister. He expressed his distress over the continued disruptions, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and debate. Despite this appeal, the Lok Sabha was adjourned until 2 pm following further unrest.

Legislative Business Stalled

Several legislative items were scheduled for consideration in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, including the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026, and the National Co-operative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026. However, these bills remain pending due to the ongoing parliamentary stalemate. Kanyakumari MP Vijay Kumar also submitted a notice requesting a special package for the development of fishing villages in his district.

Opposition United in Protest

Opposition MPs from various parties, including Congress and Samajwadi Party, staged a protest within the Parliament complex over allegations of theft and misappropriation of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. This demonstration occurred alongside protests concerning the police response to student activists in Jharkhand.

The Monsoon session is expected to remain turbulent as opposition parties continue to press their demands and seek answers from the government on these pressing issues.
