Kathmandu— The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has successfully restored power supply to several parts of Nuwakot following disruptions caused by recent floods in the Bhotekoshi River. Utilizing alternative transmission arrangements, the NEA reconnected communities including Kharanitar, Samundratar, Chaugada, Likhu, Panchakanya and Bidur through a line originating from Sindhupalchok. The restoration efforts involved mobilizing technical personnel and resources to assess damage and implement temporary solutions while work continues on repairing damaged infrastructure.

Alternative Transmission Lines Activated

Electricity was restored to the affected areas via an alternative transmission line extending from Sindhupalchok, according to NEA spokesperson Rajan Dhakal. In addition to this route, power has also been supplied to parts of Trishuli through the Salyantar Substation located in neighboring Dhading district. The NEA is prioritizing the completion of technical work on the Chapali-Devighat 66 kV line and the Balaju-Trishuli 66 kV line, aiming to have both fully operational soon.

Emergency Response and Infrastructure Assessment

Following the floods, the NEA dispatched teams of skilled technicians from Kathmandu and surrounding regions to Nuwakot. These teams were equipped with necessary tools and resources to inspect damaged power infrastructure and establish alternative supply routes. The focus has been on both immediate restoration efforts and long-term repairs to return services to normal.

Ministerial Directive and On-Site Leadership

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha directed authorities to expedite the restoration of electricity services and ensure the safety of NEA employees affected by the floods. In response, a high-level team led by NEA acting managing director Dighayu Kumar Shrestha was deployed to the impacted areas to oversee operations.

The NEA continues to assess damage to power infrastructure and prioritize repairs to fully restore regular electricity services throughout Nuwakot.
