1,204 Bodies Retrieved After Bhotekoshi Flood Disaster

Kathmandu— A total of 1,204 bodies have been retrieved so far from the devastating flash floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems that occurred on August 26. The disaster has affected multiple districts including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahu, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, and Nawalparasi. Among the retrieved bodies, 95 have been identified and returned to their families.

Rescue Efforts Intensify

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has mobilized a total of 21,314 security personnel for disaster response efforts. As of now, 301 people have been reported injured, while 11,993 individuals have been rescued from the affected areas.

Displacement and Relief

The floods have left many citizens homeless, with holding centers in Nuwakot, Dhading, Rasuwa, and Kathmandu currently housing 3,453 displaced individuals. The ongoing rescue operations continue to focus on both the recovery of bodies and providing relief to those affected by the disaster.

The search for missing persons continues with 4,216 people still listed as unaccounted for.
