Kathmandu— On August 1, Vice Admiral Alok Ananda, YSM, assumed the position of the 13th Commandant at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala. He succeeds Vice Admiral Manish Chadha, AVSM, VSM, who left behind a legacy marked by visionary leadership and commitment to quality training.

Career Highlights of Vice Admiral Alok Ananda

Vice Admiral Alok Ananda is an alumnus of the Naval Academy in Goa and was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1993. He specializes in Navigation and Direction and has completed staff courses from the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington and the National Defence Course (NDC) in Thailand.

Over his three-decade career, Vice Admiral Ananda has held numerous key operational, staff, and instructional positions. These include commanding INS Ghorpad and INS Satpura, serving as an instructor at the National Defence Academy (Khadakwasla), Navigation and Direction School (Kochi), and DSSC in Wellington.

Recognition for Service

In recognition of his distinguished service, Vice Admiral Alok Ananda was awarded the Yudh Seva Medal (YSM) in 2016. His career has also seen him hold significant appointments at Naval Headquarters, including Commodore Naval Operations and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy & Plans).
