Kathmandu— On Sunday, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya launched a nationwide initiative called 'Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan', aimed at encouraging young people to stay away from substance abuse. The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing, marking the start of a 100-week campaign that will feature various activities across India.

Vision for a Drug-Free Society

Mandaviya emphasized the importance of healthy citizens in building a prosperous nation. 'For a nation to become prosperous, it is essential for its citizens to be healthy; healthy citizens build a healthy society, and a healthy society builds a prosperous nation,' he said.

The minister recalled Prime Minister Modi's commitment towards making India drug-free, highlighting the initiative as a significant step towards achieving this goal.

Campaign Activities

The 'Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan' will organize weekly activities every Sunday across the country to promote awareness and public participation in building a drug-free society. These activities include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness drives, nukkad nataks, discussion forums, art competitions, and community engagement programmes.

The initiative aims to bring together educational institutions, youth organizations, civil society groups, industry bodies, and spiritual organizations on a common platform to strengthen the collective movement against substance abuse.
