Kathmandu— Following an attack on the vessel MV AGN Ragnar as it left Ukraine's Odesa port, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has intensified its efforts to trace two missing Indian nationals. The MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal informed that four Indians were aboard when the incident occurred, with two confirmed safe and two still unaccounted for.

Search and Rescue Operations Underway

Since the attack on July 25, India’s embassies in Ukraine and Romania have been in constant communication with local authorities to coordinate search and rescue operations. The MEA spokesperson highlighted that these efforts are being carried out as directed by the Supreme Court of India.

"We are making all efforts to trace the two missing Indian nationals," Jaiswal said, adding that the government is also providing assistance to the families of the missing sailors.

Government Prioritizes Seafarer Safety

The MEA spokesperson underscored the government's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Indian seafarers. "Let me also say that we attach the highest importance and priority to the safety, well-being, and welfare of our seafaring community," Jaiswal emphasized during a bi-weekly media briefing.
