Kathmandu— One person died and another sustained serious injuries when a truck registered in Madhesh Pradesh plunged into the Chandi Khola river near Bhimfedi Municipality-2 in Makwanpur on Wednesday morning. The accident occurred as the vehicle was traveling from Palung to Birjung, with heavy fog cited as the cause.

Details of the Incident

According to local police reports, a truck registered under number 03-002 Kha 5095 was en route from Palung to Birjung when it veered off the road and fell into Chandi Khola. The incident led to the death of Arjun Karki, a 36-year-old resident of Raksirang Municipality-9 who sustained severe head injuries. Truck driver Ranjit Karki, also from Raksirang Municipality-9, was seriously injured with a fractured leg and both victims were rushed to Hetauda hospital by a rescue team led by Inspector Sanam Malla.

Cause of the Accident

Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle informed that heavy fog was responsible for the accident. The poor visibility likely contributed to the driver's inability to navigate safely, leading to the tragic outcome. Inspector Sanam Malla stated, “The thick fog made it extremely difficult for the truck driver to see and control the vehicle properly.”
