Congress Defies BJP as Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ Event Proceeds in Prayagraj

Kathmandu— Congress leader Pawan Khera declared on Thursday that Rahul Gandhi's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' programme in Prayagraj would proceed as planned despite the withdrawal of venue permission by KP College. The college cited academic concerns and a High Court order to revoke the use of its sports ground for the event.

BJP Accused of Obstruction

Khera accused the BJP of trying to obstruct the event due to fear of Rahul Gandhi's influence. He stated, 'They are afraid of Rahul Gandhi inside Parliament and outside as well.' The Congress leader emphasized that despite these attempts, they would continue with their work and ensure the program takes place.

College Revokes Permission

In a letter to the City Congress Committee in Prayagraj, Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh, Acting President of Kayasth Pathshala, revoked the permission for the use of KP College's sports ground. The decision was made following inputs from the college principal and an order by the Allahabad High Court dated August 14, 2025, which emphasized that students' academic activities should not be disrupted.

Congress Reaffirms Commitment

Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Rai reaffirmed the party's commitment to holding the event. He criticized the BJP for attempting to disrupt the programme and expressed hope for a bright future for India’s children. 'Whether it rains, hails, or storms, our leader Rahul Gandhi will not back down,' Rai said.
