Kathmandu— Several major highways and transportation routes across Nepal have been severely impacted by monsoon-induced floods and landslides, causing significant disruptions to travel. The BP Highway, Kanti Highway, Araniko Highway, Pasang-Lhyamu road, Nagma-Gamgadhi road, and Kaligandaki corridor are among those affected, with some sections closed or restricted during certain hours.

BP Highway Disruptions

The Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebensi section of the BP Highway has been severely impacted by flooding and landslides. According to Nepal Police, this stretch will only be open from 4 am to 6 pm due to safety concerns.

Kanti Highway Closures

The Hetauda-Bhimphedi-Bagmati-Lalitpur road section of the Kanti Highway has been closed during nighttime hours. The Lamosanghu-Ramechhap road in Dolakha district is also obstructed due to flooding, posing significant challenges for travelers.

Araniko Highway Blockages

The Araniko Highway, a crucial route connecting Kathmandu with Tibet, has been blocked at Charkilo and Kodari in Sindhupalchowk district due to landslides. These disruptions have severely impacted travel along this vital corridor.

Alternative Routes Recommended

Nepal Police urge travelers to check the latest road conditions with relevant authorities before setting out during the monsoon season and exercise extra caution while traveling through landslide-prone areas. The public has been advised to use alternative routes until suspended sections are restored.
