Kathmandu— Israeli air strikes and shelling targeting towns in the southern Lebanese district of Tyre have wounded eight civilians. These attacks occurred during the third day of the seventh round of US-brokered talks in Rome aimed at a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that Israeli drones struck the al-Malaab neighborhood in Burj Shemali, injuring several people.

Details of Attacks

Israeli air strikes targeted towns including Burj Shemali, al-Mansouri, and Majdal Zoun. One civilian home was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike in the area. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed that eight people were injured as a result of these attacks.

Casualties and Military Escalation

The latest military escalation since March 2 has resulted in significant casualties, with over 4,333 deaths and more than 12,000 injuries reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry. On Wednesday, two Israeli soldiers were killed when a booby-trapped explosion detonated during a search operation near Majdal Zoun.

Progress and Challenges in Rome Talks

The seventh round of US-brokered direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel concluded on Thursday. The talks focused on technical matters, including military terminology and the issue of prisoners. Discussions also centered around proposed 'model areas' for Israel's phased withdrawal and Lebanon’s demand for a renewed ceasefire.
