Billionaire Donors Fuel Trump’s Political Action Committee

ABC NEWS

Kathmandu— Donald Trump’s political action committee, Make America Great Again (MAGA) Inc., founded in 2022, has amassed over $400 million in funding, largely from a small group of extremely wealthy donors. Ninety-two percent of the funds came from individuals giving at least one million dollars, with sixty-two percent contributed by those donating over $5 million. These donations are being used to support Trump’s campaigns and promote his policy agenda, which includes strict border control, economic deregulation, an “America First” foreign policy, and downsizing the federal bureaucracy.

Donor Demographics

The 61 individuals who have donated $1 million or more to MAGA Inc. collectively contributed $368 million as of July 2026. Fifty-five of these donors are billionaires, with six holding fortunes ranging from $6 to $521 million. The majority reside in three states: Florida (12), New York (7), and the Los Angeles area (7). The donor base is overwhelmingly White – fifty-eight are ethnically White, two are Hispanic, and one was born in India.

Key Financial Backers

Timothy Mellon, founder of Guilford Transportation Industries, leads contributions with $150 million. Diane Hendricks, owner of ABC Building Supplies, donated $27 million, while Miriam Adelson, owner of Las Vegas Sands, contributed $25 million and an additional $106 million to Trump’s 2024 election campaign. Other significant donors include Greg Brockman, co-founder of OpenAI ($25 million), Jeff Yass, investor with Susquehanna International Group ($16 million), and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX ($5 million).

Policy Priorities

MAGA Inc.’s core policy positions center around border security – including completing the southern border wall and mass deportations – alongside a pro-domestic energy agenda and efforts to lower inflation through tariffs. The PAC also advocates for an “America First” foreign policy, opposing what it terms the “weaponization” of federal agencies, and reducing the size of the federal bureaucracy. These positions are actively promoted through electoral support for Trump-aligned candidates and direct messaging contrasting conservative policies with those of Democrats.

Concerns Over Democratic Influence

The concentration of wealth fueling MAGA Inc. has raised concerns about its impact on American democracy. Analysts suggest these donors are using their financial power to undermine democratic principles by restricting voting rights, limiting immigration, and influencing both domestic and international policy. The group is described as the foundation of a 21st-century American oligarchy, accelerating wealth inequality already at historic highs.

The substantial financial backing of MAGA Inc. continues to shape the political landscape, with ongoing efforts to influence elections and promote its conservative agenda. Further scrutiny of donor activity and policy impacts is expected as the 2024 election cycle progresses.
