Nepal Flood Victims Receive Torn Clothes Amid Relief Efforts

Kathmandu— As Nepal grapples with the aftermath of devastating flash floods that hit Rasuwa District on August 26 and affected downstream areas including Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan, reports have surfaced of donors providing used and torn clothes to victims. This inhumane behavior has sparked outrage among social media influencers and the Home Minister, who urged for more respectful relief efforts.

Outrage on Social Media

Social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook have been flooded with posts expressing dissatisfaction over the donation of used clothes. A popular TikToker named Eva Giri shared a video showing a torn man’s inner wear that had been donated to flood victims, expressing her anger at such inhumane behavior.

Home Minister's Plea

The Home Minister Sudan Gurung has called on donors to stop providing unhygienic used clothes. He emphasized the need for sensitivity towards the victims who have lost everything due to the natural calamity, stating that such degrading activities are unacceptable.

Bollywood Actor's Relief Efforts

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood arrived in Nepal on September 1 and met with flood victims. He provided relief and plans to help build homes for the affected individuals, though details about the number of houses are yet to be confirmed.

Sensitivities Around Social Media Content

Another issue highlighted is the insensitive behavior of people visiting affected areas solely to create social media content. This has been criticized as turning victims' pain into entertainment, which is seen as a vicious act during such tragic times.

The story underscores the importance of genuine compassion and dignity in providing relief to those who have suffered immense loss.
