Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended best wishes to all on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti and Maghi festival, 2076 BS. “May this festival create atmosphere of happiness, peace and prosperity in every home of Nepalis, inspiring them to enhance social goodwill and harmony,” the former Prime Minister said in a message of Maghi best wishes today. “Makar Sankranti which falls on the very first day of the Nepali month Magh is largely celebrated as the ‘Makar or Maghe’ Sankranti or ‘Maghi’ by several castes and communities in Nepal featured by a multi-caste/ethnic society since ancient times, ” leader Deuba stated, adding that’s why several languages, religions, cultures and festivals found here had their own significance and offered mutual respects. “The festival has contributed to further consolidating social goodwill by encouraging all to make efforts for the protection of own culture, religion, customs and traditions.”
