A cold store with the capacity of 3,000 metric tons is to be established at Kawaswoti of Nawalpur. As many as 101 youth returnees have taken the initiative to establish a mega cold store at the cost of Rs 210 million at Kawaswoti municipality-14, Ageuli. The youth returnees took the initiative with the slogan ‘Skill, Knowledge and Capital obtained from overseas for home country”. The youths have formed ‘Returnee Agriculture and Livestock Group to engage their collective efforts for the establishment and operation of the code store, shared group’s chair Netra Narayan Thanet. He further shared that the federal government is investing 50 percent, Gandaki state government 20 percent and group 30 percent of the cost involved in the establishment of the store. The centre will also provide high-tech training and seed inputs to farmers targeting high productivity, Thanet further shared. According to project coordinator Yubaraj Pathak, the construction of cold store is underway. The target is to complete the construction within two years, he shared, adding the German technology will be used in the setup of cold store.
