Gaurigunj rural municipality has distributed bicycles to girl students of Korobari secondary school. The rural municipality handed over bicycles to 28 girl students of grade 11 and 12. Ward-2 secretary Govinda Rajbamshi informed that the bicycles were distributed to girl students from the annual budget so as to support their access to school education. “The ward office had appropriated a budget of Rs 200,000 for bicycle distribution this year”, he said, adding the incentive was designed to get students attracted towards school education and prevent school-dropout of students belonging to indigenous nationalities. The rural municipality has come up with the first-ever initiative to distribute bicycles so that no student would be deprived of access to education, shared ward chair Aghanu Prasad Rajbamshi. Likewise, Haldibari rural municipality had announced to pay all the expenses of students in course of the secondary school education. The rural municipality also has arranged laptop for outstanding and genuine students. The objective is to make the students tech-savvy. Jhapa rural municipality has also distributed laptops to all the girl students above grade eight and provided monthly tuition fee to the students pursuing higher education.
