Kathmandu— Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of wrongdoing on Wednesday, alleging that he is hiding from parliamentary duties because of his involvement in the Delhi Police's actions against student protesters. The opposition has been pressing for a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the use of force during protests at Jantar Mantar.

Opposition Demands Statements

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, reiterated demands for both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to address Parliament. 'They should come; by not coming to the House, they are insulting Parliament,' Kharge said, emphasizing the need for discussion to resolve issues such as police actions against protesters and alleged embezzlement of donations meant for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Congress MPs Protest

Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain called on Amit Shah to make a statement about the use of force and firing of pellets at students during protests. In response, Rahul Gandhi led a march from the Gandhi statue at Prerna Sthal to Makar Dwar in Parliament, protesting against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's alleged involvement in police actions against student protesters.
