President Pezeshkian Pledges Unwavering Support For Iranian Leadership Amid Escalating Conflict

Kathmandu— President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that the Iranian people will stand by the decisions of the country's leadership until the end as military conflicts persist and tensions rise over commercial maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking in remarks cited by Fars News Agency, the president emphasized that military strategy and the decision to engage in combat should remain the sole province of the country's leadership and military commanders.

Military Strategy and Leadership

Pezeshkian asserted that the determination of whether to engage in warfare rests with those who understand the nation's capabilities. "Whether we fight or not, the war commanders know better than you and me. They know their own capabilities," he said, adding that the government's primary responsibility is to provide necessary supplies and support rather than dictating military strategy.

He emphasized that the government's role is to ensure the state is prepared to support the military efforts, stating that the duty of the administration is to provide the necessary supplies to sustain the nation's defense.

Unity Amid Internal Speculation

Addressing recent rumors of political instability, Pezeshkian dismissed speculation regarding discord between the civilian administration and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He asserted that Tehran remains a cohesive and united entity, warning that attempts to sow division are the primary objective of the country's enemies.

In an interview with Iranian state television, the president also refuted claims that he intended to resign, declaring that he would continue his work resolutely despite reports of divisions within the Iranian establishment regarding the 14-point MoU.

Personal Resolve and Risk

The president expressed a willingness to continue his duties despite the heightened risks of assassination or physical danger associated with the ongoing conflict. He stated that he is not afraid of the dangers posed by the current situation, noting that he cannot simply step back from his responsibilities or skip meetings due to potential threats.

"I, for instance, can't just step back from work, skip meetings, and stop following through. Now, it's possible that one day they'll assassinate us; well, let them do it," Pezeshkian said, further noting his readiness to face the consequences of his position.

The president's remarks come as the status of maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz remains a major point of contention in the ongoing regional conflict.
