Pune’s Historic Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Announces ‘Shree Ganesh Swarnadham’ Theme for 2026

Kathmandu— The historic Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandal in Pune unveiled its theme of ‘Shree Ganesh Swarnadham’ for the 2026 Ganeshotsav festival on Sunday, coinciding with Kranti Din and performing the traditional Vasa Pujan ceremony. The event was attended by dignitaries including Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale and trustee Punit Balan, marking a continuation of Pune's long-standing public Ganeshotsav tradition which dates back 135 years and historically connected religious celebration with social awareness and national consciousness.

A Legacy of Social Awareness

The Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati is considered a significant part of Pune’s historic public Ganeshotsav tradition. Bhausaheb Rangari was instrumental in expanding the festival beyond purely religious observance, integrating it with social awareness and national consciousness. During India's freedom struggle, the Ganpati served as a center of faith and inspiration for revolutionaries.

The ‘Shree Ganesh Swarnadham’ Theme

This year’s theme, 'Shree Ganesh Swarnadham,' is centered around the divine abode of Lord Ganesha. Organizers conceptualized the theme to highlight Indian cultural values such as ‘Matrudevo Bhava, Pitrudevo Bhava,’ which emphasize reverence and gratitude towards parents. Through elaborate decorations, they aim to underscore the importance of honoring mothers and fathers.

Commitment to Tradition

Punit Balan, festival chief and trustee, stated that this year’s festival will be celebrated while preserving its religious sanctity, purity, and traditions. He also confirmed the continuation of a DJ-free Ganeshotsav and Dahi Handi celebration, mirroring last year's approach. Krushikesh Rawale expressed his honor at performing the Vasa Pujan for the 135th Ganeshotsav mandap, noting the enthusiasm of volunteers and discipline during past immersion processions.

The upcoming 135th Ganeshotsav at the historic mandal will include various religious and cultural programs, with the ‘Shree Ganesh Swarnadham’ decoration expected to be a major attraction for devotees.
