China Launches Twenty-Fourth Group of Low-Orbit Internet Satellites

Kathmandu— China launched a new group of internet satellites into orbit on Sunday, expanding its low-orbit satellite network. The 24th such group lifted off aboard a Long March-12 carrier rocket at 12:10 p.m. Beijing Time from a commercial spacecraft launch site in the southern island province of Hainan and successfully entered their designated orbits. This launch represents continued development of China’s space-based internet infrastructure.

Launch Details

The Long March-12 carrier rocket carried the 24th group of low-orbit internet satellites, according to state news agency Xinhua. The launch took place at a commercial spacecraft launch site located in Hainan Province. Officials confirmed that the satellites successfully reached their preset orbits following liftoff.

Expanding Satellite Network

This latest launch marks the 24th deployment of its kind for China, indicating an ongoing effort to build out a comprehensive low-orbit internet satellite network. The purpose and specific capabilities of these satellites were not detailed in reports.

With this successful launch, China continues to develop its space-based infrastructure and expand its satellite constellation.
