Nepal’s Ministers and Top Bureaucrat Sign Performance Agreements With Prime Minister

Kathmandu— Members of the Nepali Council of Ministers and Govinda Bahadur Karki, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Nepal, signed performance agreements with Prime Minister Balendra Shah today in Kathmandu. The agreements detail major functions and anticipated achievements for the current fiscal year, focusing on areas such as good governance, social justice, and national prosperity. The signing ceremony took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, where copies of the agreements were exchanged.

Ministerial Commitments

Prime Minister Shah signed performance agreements with a full complement of ministers including Dr. Swarnim Wagle (Finance), Shisir Khanal (Foreign Affairs), Biraj Bhakta Shrestha (Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation), Sudhan Gurung (Home Affairs), Sobita Gautam (Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs), and Mahabir Pun (Science, Technology and Innovation).

The list of signatories also included Sita Badi (Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security), Pratibha Rawal (Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration), Nisha Mehta (Health and Food Safety), Sasmit Pokharel (Education and Sports), Khadak Raj Poudel (Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation), Dr. Bikram Timilsina (Information and Communications), Geeta Chaudhary (Agriculture, Forest and Environment) and Gauri Kumari (Industry, Commerce and Supplies).

Chief Secretary’s Role

In addition to the ministerial agreements, Chief Secretary Govinda Bahadur Karki also signed a performance agreement with Prime Minister Shah. This indicates an effort to align bureaucratic leadership with the government's stated goals for the fiscal year.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that all agreements have been formalized and exchanged, signaling a commitment to accountability and measurable results in governance.
