Kathmandu— Nepal’s Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration, Pratibha Rawal, stated that resolving land disputes requires a coordinated effort from the federal, provincial, and local governments. Speaking at an event in Dodhara Chandani Municipality, Kanchanpur on Wednesday, she affirmed the government's commitment to prioritizing these issues and urged support from lower levels of administration. The Minister also revealed ongoing discussions regarding policy reforms aimed at addressing specific problems within municipalities.

Focus on Collaborative Governance

Minister Rawal stressed that a unified approach is crucial for effectively tackling land-related challenges across Nepal. She indicated the government recognizes the need to work in tandem with provincial and local authorities, emphasizing their supportive role in resolving these issues.

The Minister’s remarks came during a program held in Dodhara Chandani Municipality, Kanchanpur, where she highlighted the importance of shared responsibility among all levels of governance.

Policy Reform Discussions

Discussions are currently underway to implement policy reforms designed to address specific land-related problems encountered by municipalities. Minister Rawal indicated that these changes aim to streamline processes and provide more effective solutions for citizens.

The Ministry is actively seeking input from local stakeholders to ensure the reforms are practical and responsive to on-the-ground realities.

Local Office Consultations

Rawal engaged in discussions with officials from Land Administration Offices, Survey Offices, and other municipalities at the District Administration Office in Kanchanpur. These meetings focused on identifying key issues and exploring potential solutions for land disputes within the district.

The Minister’s visit included inspections of ongoing infrastructure projects, including the under-construction Majhagaun Airport in Mahendranagar and the dry port in Dodhara Chandni.

The Ministry continues to prioritize land management reforms and collaborative governance as key strategies for addressing longstanding issues within Nepal.
