Xi Jinping Congratulates New Bangladeshi President

Kathmandu— Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday after he assumed office as president of Bangladesh, highlighting the long-standing friendly ties between the two nations. In a message delivered through Xinhua news agency, Xi emphasized the mutual respect and support that have characterized China-Bangladesh relations since their establishment 51 years ago. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with Alamgir to strengthen strategic communication and deepen cooperation across various sectors.

Historical Ties

Xi Jinping noted the enduring relationship between China and Bangladesh, describing them as traditional friendly neighbors. Since establishing diplomatic relations over half a century ago, both countries have consistently demonstrated mutual respect and equal treatment towards one another. This foundation has allowed for consistent support on issues of core interest to each nation, and collaborative efforts toward modernization.

Commitment to Cooperation

The Chinese President stated he places significant importance on the continued development of relations between China and Bangladesh. He expressed a desire to work alongside President Alamgir to further strengthen strategic communication and advance high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Xi also advocated for deeper exchanges and collaboration in all fields, aiming to solidify the foundation for a shared future between the two countries.

The exchange of congratulatory messages signals continued commitment from both China and Bangladesh to fostering their bilateral relationship and pursuing collaborative initiatives.
