Bhotekoshi Flood Claims 59 Lives, Bodies Taken To Kathmandu Hospital

Kathmandu— Following catastrophic flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River, the bodies of 59 people have been transported to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. The disaster has prompted a recovery effort with ongoing identification and post-mortem examinations being conducted at the hospital, according to officials. The incident occurred recently, prompting immediate response from authorities and medical personnel.

Recovery And Identification Efforts

Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital spokesperson Dr. Gopal Sedhain confirmed that 59 bodies have been received at the facility. Post-mortem examinations have been completed on 32 of those recovered, while examinations are still pending for the remaining 27 individuals.

As of current reports, only eight of the deceased have been positively identified; authorities continue working to identify the rest.

Hospital Capacity And Response

The Teaching Hospital is currently managing a significant influx of bodies following the disaster. Dr. Sedhain indicated that hospital staff are prioritizing post-mortem examinations and identification procedures to assist families in locating loved ones.

Efforts to identify the remaining victims are ongoing, with authorities working to provide support to those affected by the devastating floods.
