Rescue Operations Inside Tunnels

The Nepali Army, with support from foreign rescue teams, is conducting operations inside several hydropower project tunnels. By 11:00 am on Wednesday, a team had reached about 150 meters into the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower tunnel but was unable to proceed further due to large rocks blocking the passage. Similar efforts are underway at other sites like Langtang and Chilime hydropower projects.

International Support Arrives

A 44-member South Korean Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday to assist with search and rescue operations. The team will establish a base at Battar in Nuwakot, prioritizing the location of missing people, including South Korean nationals. Additionally, two US military aircraft delivered essential equipment and supplies to support relief efforts.

Humanitarian Aid from Japan

The Government of Japan extended emergency humanitarian assistance to Nepal, delivering relief goods that included blankets, plastic sheets, sleeping pads, tents, and portable jerry cans. The aid was officially handed over during a ceremony at Tribhuvan International Airport attended by representatives from both governments.
