Nepal Tourism Sector Reassures Global Visitors Amid Limited Flood Impact

ABC NEWS

Kathmandu— The Lumbini Development Trust has urged international tourists not to postpone visits to Nepal, emphasizing that only limited districts were affected by recent floods while major tourist destinations, including Lumbini, remain operational and safe.

Localized Flood Impact Clarified

The Trust clarified that the Bhotekoshi flood on August 26 caused significant damage in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts, but its effects were confined to those areas. Other regions, including the Greater Lumbini Area encompassing Lumbini, Kapilvastu, Devadaha, and Ramgram, are unaffected and accessible without difficulty.

Tourism entrepreneurs highlighted the importance of accurate information to prevent international visitors from mistakenly believing Nepal as a whole was impacted by the disaster, which could disrupt travel plans and harm the sector.

The Trust reiterated its commitment to welcoming global visitors to Lumbini, a site symbolizing peace and harmony, while encouraging adherence to local travel advisories.
