Nepalese Rescuers Pull Survivors from Debris 10 Days After Devastating Floods

Kathmandu— Rescuers in Nepal have pulled two individuals alive from the debris 10 days after devastating floods hit the country, bringing hope to families of the missing. The Chinese man, Lu Haitao, was rescued from a 225-meter tunnel at the Trishuli hydropower project, while a woman was found alive in a house in flood-hit Nuwakot town. Rescue efforts have intensified, focusing on 12 hydropower projects where about 900 workers are missing and roughly 500 are believed to be trapped in tunnels.

Rescue Operations Continue

Specialized rescue teams have been searching through debris, damaged structures, and tunnels, hoping to find survivors. The rescue of the Chinese man, Lu Haitao, from the Trishuli hydropower tunnel, and the woman from a house in Nuwakot town, have brought renewed hope to the families of the missing workers.

International Aid and Cooperation

The rescue of Lu Haitao, a Chinese man, from the Trishuli hydropower tunnel, was facilitated by the joint efforts of Nepalese military personnel and South Korean disaster experts. The woman rescued in Nuwakot town was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment, highlighting the critical role of air evacuation in these rescue missions.

Rescue operations continue, with hopes of finding more survivors. The international cooperation and dedication of the rescue teams have provided a glimmer of hope in the wake of the devastating floods.
