Kathmandu 7 July 2019: A deep water boring project completed at the cost of Rs. 3.5 million is yet to come into operation as the transformer for power supply could not be installed. The project in ward no. 5 of Sunawarsi municipality was completed two years ago. Operation of the project could help irrigate more than 200 bigaha of farmland in the area. It was constructed with the constituency development fund of Member of Parliament Shiva Kumar Mandal. Power supply from the national grid has reached the area but the failure to install a transformer has deprived the farmers in the area of an opportunity to increase their production. Repeated requests made to the National Reconstruction Authority have failed to bear any fruit, the local farmers say. A 220 KV transformer is required to be installed for running the deep boring. We were looking forward to cash crop farming upon completion of the project but now we have lost hope, said farmer Ram Kewal Shaha.
