Kathmandu— Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated India's medal winners from the ongoing Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Glasgow, Scotland. The PM hailed the exceptional performances of Indian boxers and para athletes, emphasizing their skill, determination, and commitment to excellence. He extended his best wishes for their future endeavors and expressed confidence that they would continue to bring glory to the nation.

Boxing Triumphs

India's boxing contingent delivered its finest-ever performance at the CWG, collecting seven gold medals through Preeti Pawar (54kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), Sachin Siwach (60kg), and Ankush Panghal (80kg). The historic campaign marked India's most successful boxing outing in CWG history, underscoring the remarkable depth and growing dominance of the country’s pugilists on the international stage. PM Modi congratulated each athlete individually, praising their technical excellence and mental strength.

Para Athletics Milestone

India celebrated a historic day in para athletics at the CWG 2026 as Soman Rana clinched gold and Shubham Juyal claimed silver in the men's F57 shot put final. This marked India’s first-ever gold medal and maiden double podium finish in the event. In an all-Indian battle for the top spot, Soman produced a best throw of 13.40m to edge Shubham, who finished close behind with an effort of 13.28m. PM Modi congratulated both athletes on their exceptional achievements and praised their focus and determination.
