Kathmandu— An explosion at a restaurant in central Moscow on Saturday night killed at least three individuals, including the suspected bomber. The incident was described by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin as a 'brutal terrorist attack.' Law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances of the blast, which occurred shortly before 8 p.m. local time and injured over two dozen people.

Investigation Underway

State news agency RIA Novosti reported that at least 21 other people were injured in the explosion. The blast happened as a woman carrying a homemade explosive device attempted to enter the restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square but was stopped by a security guard. The device detonated at the entrance, resulting in the deaths of the bomber, the guard, and another person inside the establishment.

Heavily armed law enforcement officers sealed off the area around the restaurant and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have not yet identified those responsible for the attack.

Regional Attacks

The blast in Moscow occurred amid a wave of attacks across Russia, including strikes by Ukrainian drones targeting Russian territory. In Engels, some 900 kilometers southeast of Moscow, two people were killed when a drone hit an apartment block.

Russia's Defense Ministry reported that over 200 Ukrainian drones had been shot down during the night, with overall claims of 635 downed Ukrainian drones overnight. The attacks also included strikes on infrastructure and civilian areas in various regions of Russia.
