Kathmandu— As the monsoon season continues to impact Nepal, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a weather bulletin warning of heavy rainfall in certain hilly areas of Gandaki and Bagmati provinces. The department predicts widespread cloud cover leading to moderate rain and snowfall in the Himalayan regions, with thunderstorms expected in the Terai plains.

Forecast Details

The weather bulletin highlights that select areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are at risk for heavy rainfall. The department warns of moderate rain and snowfall in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, as well as parts of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected to affect the Terai plains of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Madhes Provinces.

Risk Warnings

Given the forecasted conditions, authorities have issued warnings about potential flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion in areas prone to heavy rainfall. The adverse weather may disrupt daily life, agriculture, health services, tourism, and transportation. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology advises the public to stay informed about the latest weather updates.
