Kathmandu— At around 3 am, a fire broke out in the engine of the Samastipur-Saharsa passenger train No. 63344 at Simri Bakhtiyarpur railway station in Bihar's Saharsa district. Passengers were safely evacuated with no reported casualties, but many faced distress and inconvenience due to the incident.

Fire Under Control

Assistant Fire Officer Niranjan Kumar stated that upon receiving an alert about a railway engine fire, his team deployed foam and water tenders from the Saharsa fire station. The fire is currently under control, with no reported loss of life or significant damage to passenger coaches.

Passenger Distress

A passenger described the situation as distressing, noting that all passengers were stranded and inconvenienced following the early morning incident. The fire broke out at 3:40 am, causing panic among those on board.

The evacuation was carried out safely without any casualties reported.

Previous Incident

This is not the first such incident in Bihar this year. In May, a fire broke out in empty coaches of the Jaynagar-Udhna Antyodaya Express at Madhubani Railway Station during shunting operations. The affected coach was completely destroyed by the blaze.
