Kathmandu— Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a cabinet meeting on Tuesday as the Uttar Pradesh government prepares to present its supplementary budget later in the day. The session, which began on August 3, will conclude on August 6, with discussions focusing on issues affecting various segments of society including farmers, youth, and women.

Supplementary Budget Focus

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna emphasized that the supplementary budget is designed to complete ongoing government schemes and address necessary public interest work. 'The provisions in the supplementary budget are specifically to complete the ongoing schemes and to carry out the necessary work in the public interest,' Khanna said, adding that this budget will accelerate development efforts.

Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana highlighted that additional funds for various government schemes proposed after the initial budget fall under the supplementary budget. He noted that presenting a supplementary budget is a routine constitutional exercise.

Cabinet Meeting Outcomes

Following the cabinet meeting, State Minister OP Rajbhar stated that issues arising from the meeting will be discussed further. Additionally, it was decided to hold a condolence meeting for an opposition MLA who recently passed away. 'An MLA in the opposition lost his life recently. It was decided that a condolence meeting would be held,' Rajbhar said.
