Qatar Reports Progress in US-Iran Diplomatic Talks

Kathmandu— Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said on Tuesday that efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran are in very progressive stages, noting that draft agreements are being circulated among parties involved. The remarks come as both Washington and Tehran continue to signal a shift towards diplomacy following recent escalations.

Diplomatic Efforts Underway

During his weekly news conference, al-Ansari confirmed that diplomatic efforts are ongoing with all parties involved. He emphasized Qatar's commitment to de-escalation and dialogue, supporting Oman’s mediation role in the conflict. Al-Ansari stated, "We can confirm that the efforts are still ongoing with all the parties. We are looking towards a diplomatic resolution as we are speaking right now."

US Signals Potential Breakthrough

The possibility of a breakthrough in talks was also signaled by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent during an interview on CNBC. He indicated that there is a chance for an agreement to be reached either today or tomorrow, which could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a more normalized situation between the two nations.

As tensions continue to ease, both sides remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached in the coming hours or days. The shift towards diplomacy comes after weeks of heightened rhetoric and military posturing.
