Kathmandu— On Wednesday, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda visited flood-affected areas in Sivasagar district, Assam, alongside Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The minister interacted with affected families and reviewed damage caused by recent floods, assuring them of comprehensive assistance from the Central government.

Assurance of Support

During his visit to Bihubor Nepali Khuti area, Nadda assured residents that the Central government would extend all possible support for relief and rehabilitation. He emphasized that complete financial assistance was being provided to the state and that central teams were assessing the scale of damage.

"On behalf of the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I assure Himanta Biswa Sarma and all of you that there will be no shortage of relief," Nadda said. He added that whether it is financial assistance, compensation for losses or rehabilitation, the Centre would stand with Assam.

Extent of Damage

Nadda's visit provided him a firsthand assessment of the devastation caused by floods in Sivasagar district. Entire villages had suffered significant damage, with people losing their homes and crops being severely affected.

"I have seen the extent of the damage," Nadda said after inspecting the affected villages. He discussed the difficulties faced by residents and assured them that relief work was being carried out proactively.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Nadda for visiting the flood-hit areas, expressing confidence that he would convey the ground situation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
