Kathmandu— On Wednesday, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) declared its backing for protesters who are demanding transparency over alleged irregularities in various competitive examinations. The party's general secretary, Vinod Pandey, stated that a high-level committee will be established within one or two days to address the students' concerns.
Protesters Demand Transparency
The protests began after the results of the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination were released on July 5, with allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process. Since then, students have been staging round-the-clock demonstrations and an indefinite sit-in at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, demanding transparency and accountability from the government.
Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato had initiated an indefinite hunger strike to draw attention to their cause but ended it after activist Sonam Wangchuk assured continued support for the movement.
Committee Formation Announced
JMM General Secretary Vinod Pandey announced that a high-level committee will be formed within one or two days to address the demands of the protesting students. He emphasized that exemplary actions based on evidence would follow soon after.
"The Jharkhand government is committed to forming a high-level committee in one or two days," Pandey said, adding that immediate action would be taken based on the findings of this committee.
