Kathmandu— On August 6, Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) staged a protest inside the Indian Parliament to highlight issues related to the alleged theft of donations intended for the construction of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir and the use of force by authorities during protests on July 20. MPs from various opposition parties displayed posters with slogans such as 'Donation thieves, step down' and demanded answers from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding police actions.

Protestors Demand Accountability

Several Samajwadi Party (SP) MPs raised the issue of financial embezzlement involving donation funds for the Ram Mandir construction. They displayed posters with slogans like 'Chanda chor, gaddi chhod' (Donation thieves, step down), emphasizing their demand for accountability from those involved in the alleged theft. Other Opposition MPs protested against Amit Shah, holding up posters that read 'Amit Shah jawab do' (Amit Shah, give an answer).

Shiv Sena MP Defends Criticism

Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, defended the Opposition's criticism of the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement case. He argued that raising questions over theft should not be equated with being 'anti-Ram.'

Responding to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju’s accusation that the Opposition was anti-Lord Ram for repeatedly raising the issue in Parliament, Raut said, 'There was theft in the Ram Temple. Is Lord Ram responsible for that? We raised our voice against the theft, and now we are being called anti-Ram.'
