Nepal Government Updates Salary Scale for Fiscal Year 2083/84 BS

Kathmandu— The Ministry of Finance has implemented an updated salary scale for the fiscal year 2083/84 BS, effective from July 17. The decision was approved by the Council of Ministers on July 22 and includes a 10 percent salary increase along with a 10 percent incentive allowance.

Details of the New Salary Scale

The Ministry of Finance has communicated the specifics of the new salary scale in a letter to government agencies. The revised scale ranges from schedule one to eight and benefits civil servants, members of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, employees of the Health Service, Parliament Service, teachers in public schools, and employees at provincial and local levels.

The starting salary for the Chief Secretary is set at Rs 84,932, while the gazetted special category will earn Rs 79,290. The Additional Secretary receives Rs 66,539 (for pension purposes). First-class gazetted officers have a fixed salary of Rs 62,466, and second-class officers earn Rs 53,611, with third-class officers receiving Rs 48,058. Non-gazetted first additional value pension is set at Rs 41,517, non-gazetted first-class officers will earn Rs 38,203, and the second additional value pension is Rs 37,407. Non-gazetted second-class officers receive Rs 36,192, while third-class officers earn Rs 30,373.
