Kathmandu— Varanasi District Magistrate (DM) Satyendra Kumar on Monday inspected the Kashi Vishwanath Temple area in Uttar Pradesh, India, to assess preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage. The inspection focused on ensuring smooth access to worship, maintaining cleanliness, bolstering security measures, and providing adequate facilities for pilgrims arriving during the month of Shravan, a period of heightened religious observance dedicated to Lord Shiva. Kumar interacted with devotees to gather feedback on existing arrangements and identify areas for improvement.

Pilgrimage Preparations Underway

The District Magistrate engaged with Shiva devotees visiting Baba Vishwanath, inquiring about their experiences regarding facilities and arrangements provided at the temple. He extended greetings to all pilgrims and residents of Uttar Pradesh on the second Monday of Shravan, expressing wishes for happiness, peace, prosperity, and good health. Feedback from devotees was collected concerning potential difficulties related to darshan access, drinking water availability, cleanliness standards, transportation options, and overall convenience.

Focus on Cleanliness and Crowd Management

Kumar directed officials to prioritize continuous improvements to the cleanliness system within the temple premises and its surrounding areas. He emphasized the need for easy and systematic darshan facilities to accommodate the anticipated influx of devotees. Instructions were also given to ensure effective crowd management strategies are in place to handle large numbers of pilgrims.

Enhanced Security Measures Implemented

Security arrangements for all devotees were reviewed through monitoring CCTV cameras from a dedicated control room. The DM stated that providing better facilities to devotees, including those traveling from abroad, is the administration’s top priority. He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts between all concerned departments to ensure both convenience and safety.

Officials from relevant departments and temple administrators were present during the inspection, signaling a collaborative approach to managing the annual pilgrimage.
