Kathmandu— Police have arrested Arun Kumar, the director of New Delhi-based Bynsis Technology Pvt Ltd, in connection with the 2022 Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) Junior Engineer (Diploma) paper leak case. Kumar, a resident of Nalanda district, Bihar, was apprehended in Mumbai on August 10 and sent to judicial custody. The leak occurred during an exam for 1,279 positions held on July 3, 2022, prompting its immediate cancellation after answer keys were circulated online before the first shift began. An investigation led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) revealed the leak was orchestrated through a syndicate connected to Bynsis Technology Pvt Ltd.
Exam Cancellation and Initial Investigation
The JSSC conducted the competitive examination for Junior Engineer positions on July 3, 2022. However, the discovery of leaked answer keys circulating online before the exam commenced led to its immediate cancellation. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Namkum Police Station on July 14, 2022, following a complaint from candidate Mithlesh Kumar Mahto. The case invoked sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the IT Act, and the Bihar Conduct of Examinations Act.
Syndicate Involvement Confirmed
Investigations revealed an organized syndicate linked to Bynsis Technology Pvt Ltd was responsible for the paper leak. Candidates were allegedly gathered in Patna where they memorized questions and answers prior to the examination. Prior to Arun Kumar’s arrest, five individuals – Ranjit Mandal, Deepak Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Deepak Srivastava, and Krishna Kumar (Senior Manager at Bynsis Technology Pvt Ltd) – had already been taken into judicial custody by the SIT.
Law enforcement authorities are continuing raids to apprehend remaining suspects involved in the paper leak. The arrests follow recent resignations of three JPSC members and a government announcement of probes by the CID and ED, though protesting students continue to demand a CBI inquiry.
