The monsoon trough’s position is influencing weather patterns throughout Nepal. Koshi, Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces are generally cloudy, along with the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki and Lumbini. The Madhesh province and Terai areas of Gandaki and Lumbini currently experience partly cloudy conditions. Moderate rainfall has already begun in several locations within Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as isolated spots in Gandaki.

The forecast indicates a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in hilly and mountainous areas. Moderate rainfall with potential thunderstorms is also likely in the Terai regions of Lumbini, Sudurpashchim, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki provinces, and Madhesh.

Heavy Rainfall Potential

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has highlighted a risk of heavy rainfall in specific areas. Hilly regions within Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are particularly vulnerable, with one or two locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini province also at risk. The possibility of heavy rainfall persists tonight in several hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali.
