Kathmandu— The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has appointed nine individuals to its central committee during a meeting held Friday, solidifying the leadership structure as it prepares for future electoral contests. Sunil Lamsal, Sudhan Gurung, Pratibha Rawal, Bhup Dev Shah, Purushottam Suprabhat Yadav, Dr Manohar Pradhan, Basumaya Tamang, Surendra Chaudhary and Dr Bhakta Bahadur Rai were all named central members by the party. Several office bearers also received new responsibilities, including Jagadish Kharel who was appointed as spokesperson.
Leadership Roles Assigned
Alongside the appointment of central committee members, the RSP designated specific roles within its leadership structure. Purushottam Suprabhat Yadav will serve as a joint general secretary, while Dr Manohar Pradhan has been named treasurer and Basumaya Tamang as joint treasurer. Jagadish Kharel (Lalitpur) was appointed spokesperson, with Dr Namita Yadav and Surendra Chaudhary serving as joint spokespersons, according to General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya.
Secretariat and Department Chiefs Named
The party also announced the formation of its secretariat, comprised of Ganesh Parajuli, Shisir Khanal, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Purushottam Suprabhat Yadav, Dr Manohar Pradhan, Kabindra Burlakoti, Jagadish Kharel (Lalitpur), Lima Adhikari Acharya, Dipak Raj Bohara, Samiksha Baskota, Shiva Nepali, Indira Rana Magar and Manish Jha. Additionally, Pramod Neupane will lead the Organization Department, Shisir Khanal the Department of International Relations, Bijay Jairu the Department of Public Service and Public Grievance Management, Dr Toshima Karki the Department of Public Health, and Nisha Dangi the Infrastructure Department. Lima Adhikari Acharya was named head of the Finance Department, with Kamal Subedi as a deputy chief of the Training Department.
Election Preparations Underway
The RSP is actively preparing for upcoming local elections, having endorsed its 'Candidate Selection Framework-2083' coordinated by General Secretary Acharya. An 11-member committee, also led by Acharya, has been formed to develop a document related to the ‘Right to Recall’ initiative. Joint general secretary Nisha Dangi will coordinate orientation programs on the candidate selection framework, mobilizing central committee members and House of Representatives members across rural municipalities.
New Publications and Audits Planned
Looking ahead, the RSP plans to publish a monthly digital paper titled 'Swatantra' starting next month (Asoj), as announced by General Secretary Acharya. In Madhes province, a five-member committee coordinated by joint general secretary Hari Dhakal will conduct an organizational audit prior to district and provincial conventions.
The RSP continues to strengthen its internal organization and prepare for future elections with these recent appointments and initiatives.
