Missing Hydropower Workers Re-Establish Contact After Nepal Flash Floods

ABC NEWS
१३ भदौ २०८३, शनिबार   १२ : ३५   बजे

Kathmandu— Eleven staff members of the 60-megawatt Upper Trishuli-3 ‘A’ Hydropower Project in Nepal were reported out of contact after flash floods impacted the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district on August 26th. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) confirmed Friday that all eleven employees have since re-established communication with authorities, following intensified rescue efforts.

Employees Previously Unreachable

The NEA reported that the eleven workers had been unreachable since the flooding began two days prior. Concerns grew as rescue operations were launched to locate employees and workers potentially trapped at various hydropower projects in the affected area.

Confirmed List of Contacted Staff

According to information released by the NEA, those who have made contact include Sanjog Kumar KC, Mohan Gyawali, Rabindra Bhatta, Suresh Chaudhary, Bishnu Bhandari, Khemraj Bhattarai, Saugarath Yadav, Jitendra Gupta, Rowan Parajuli, Bhimsen Thapa and Bikram Majhi. Rajan Dhakal, a spokesperson for the NEA, confirmed that all eleven individuals had been accounted for.

With all eleven employees now in contact, the immediate crisis has passed, though ongoing monitoring of conditions at hydropower projects is expected.
