Kathmandu— Chairperson of Nepal’s National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, has urged all stakeholders including federal and local governments, security bodies, civil society, private sector, communities, friendly nations, and international partners to participate in disaster management efforts following the August 26 Bhotekoshi flash flood. In a special address at today's meeting of the National Assembly, Dahal emphasized the need for effective, transparent, and humanitarian search and rescue operations.

Appeals for Resource Mobilization

Dahal appealed to the government and concerned bodies to mobilize maximum available resources, technology, and human resources. He prioritized free treatment for the injured, the search of missing individuals, and rescue operations. The NA Chair also urged the relocation of citizens in downstream and vulnerable areas to safer places and ensuring easy access to health services and essential goods.

Infrastructure Damage Assessment

The flash flood damaged essential infrastructures such as housing, roads, bridges, electricity, communication, drinking water, education, and health facilities. Dahal pointed out the need for an immediate assessment of actual damages and regional-level evaluations to forward necessary processes.

National Unity in Crisis

Dahal stressed the importance of maintaining national unity above partisan interests to tackle the crisis resulting from the Bhotekoshi flash floods. He also urged all bodies concerned, including political parties and government officials, to work together effectively.
